Meet the team
Unitedstyles is a young company based in one of the most dynamic cities in the world: Shanghai, China. Our team is made up of highly motivated people from a number of different countries and backgrounds. Please allow us to introduce ourselves to you.
Xander Slager - co-founder
A veteran of the fashion industry of some 18 years, Dutch native Xander Slager is the driving force behind the idea of enabling people to design their own, unique clothing themselves. He has been living in China since 2007 with his wife and 3 children.
Marc van der Chijs - co-founder
Best known for co-founding Chinese video sharing site tudou.com (Nasdaq: TUDO), fellow Dutch entrepreneur Marc van der Chijs is responsible for strategic decisions and developing unitedstyles to its fullest business potential.
Joop Dorresteijn - co-founder
Joop is a Dutch entrepreneur with a strong programming background. He has been living in Asia for about 5 years and is in charge of developing our design app, making sure the entire unitedstyles website works well and all other technical matters.
Anna Haude - design team
Anna (New York, USA) has been with unitedstyles since its start and is our main designer. She's also very closely involved with all sizing and fit issues and helps to make sure each one of our customers is and remains a happy one!
Nancy Luu - design team
Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, French and English, Nancy (Liége, Belgium) divides her time at our office between researching the latest fashion trends and helping create 2d designs and technical drawings of our styles.
Tanya Li - design team
Tanya is from the beautiful island of Mauritius but has been living in China for 3 years. She applies her love and talent for drawing and painting to assisting us with designing our dresses and tops.
Coco Deng - 3D team
Coco is from Hunan, China and heads our 3D team. She is responsible for the process of turning 2D designs (flat drawings) into 3D models and takes care of the final rendering. Additionally she knows her way around CSS very well (web programming).
Kin Li - 3D team
Kin moved to Shanghai from Jiangxi province 2 years ago and now works with us rendering 3D models of our styles. She also creates separate 3D elements, such as for the poses, lighting effects or shoes of our beloved 3D mannequins.
Berry Chen - production team
Hubei province native but longtime Shanghai resident Berry handles all matters related to turning your design into a real garment: sourcing fabrics, coordinating the printing process, working closely with our patternmakers, and arranging shipping.
Leo Liu - production team
As a dedicated patternmaker this Anhui province transplant creates the actual patterns of our styles. When your design is produced he also instructs the stitching team how each dress or top should be made and what adjustments are necessary.
Lance Li - IT team
At the risk of getting too technical, Lance writes our server side scripts and is the architect of our database. In other words, this dedicated colleague from Northern China worries about the backend of our website so we (and you) don't have to.
Alex Imperatori - IT team
This Swiss national is developing the upcoming unitedstyles iPad app as well as helping with finding solutions for specific IT problems. Outside of the office he spends most of his weekends travelling the world as a race car driver(!)

Size and fit help
Fit guarantee
We guarantee your unitedstyles design will fit you. We can do this thanks to our simple but highly effective approach:
1. Working with the most commonly used standard sizes and
2. Communicating with you personally after purchase to find out if any size or fit adjustments are needed to make your design fit YOU perfectly.
However, in the very rare case where there is a fitting issue with your unitedstyles design, we can offer you 3 solutions:
1. We arrange and pay for alteration
You tell us what is not right yet and we will arrange to have it fixed in your country, at our expense (currently only available in USA and Europe).
2. You arrange alteration, we pay
If you prefer to have your fitting problem fixed by a tailor near you and arrange this yourself, that is fine too. We will pay the bill.
3. Return it to us to fix or remake
Finally, you could send your garment back to us and we will fix it for you or - if necessary - even completely remake it, free of charge. Of course this option will take a bit longer due to shipping it from you to us and back again.
For all 3 options, please contact us within 90 days after receiving your unitedstyles design and we will help you find the right solution and explain the details.
Please note that the garment must be in unworn condition. You are responsible for any applicable taxes or duties in your country.

What size am I?
If you normally buy a size M, you should do so now too. Unitedstyles' sizes are based on the most commonly used sizes, such as by H&M and Zara. After purchase we will contact you personally to find out if any size or fit adjustments are needed to make your unique unitedstyles design fit you perfectly. However, should you prefer to take your own body measurements and compare them to our item measurements to find out what size you are, here is how to do it.

Returns policy
Our returns policy is short.
Satisfaction is guaranteed 100%.
In the highly unlikely event you are not happy with your unitedstyles purchase, for any reason, you can simply return it to us within 90 days after receiving it and we will give you a full refund (including the shipping costs we charged you).
Please contact us first to let us know you would like to return it and we will provide you with a return code and shipping instructions.
Please note that the garment must be in unworn condition.
You are only responsible for the one-way shipping costs back to us.
